The eighth edition of Filming Italy – Los Angeles will take place from February 28 to March 3, 2023 in Los Angeles, in collaboration with APA (Audiovisual Producers Association) and under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles.
Created and organized by Tiziana Rocca, Agnus Dei and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, Filming Italy – Los Angeles promotes Italy as a film set and bridge between Italian and American culture, supports the growth of Italian culture through its cinema, internationalization of Italian audiovisual products, and supports intercultural relationships among various directors, producers, and artists.
One of the stars of this edition will be Giancarlo Giannini. On the evening of March 3, the Filming Italy Achievement Award will be presented to the great actor, a source of pride for Italian Cinema in the world. Instead on March 6, he will be honored with his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Among the highly anticipated guests of this edition: Susanna Nicchiarelli, Matilda De Angelis, Tom Ellis, Tembi Locke, Nina Zilli, Joanne Frogatt, Jimmy Akingbola, Nida Khurshid, Jeremy Piven, Salvatore Esposito, Paolo Genovese, Riccardo Scamarcio and Diane Warren – who will receive the special Filming Italy Los Angeles Best Original Song Award for “Applause”, which is nominated for the Oscar and appears in the film Tell It Like a Woman – together with producer Chiara Tilesi.
Many talents will also be involved in masterclasses: Claudia Gerini, Sabrina Impacciatore, Antonio Albanese, Riccardo Milani, Aldo, Giovanni, and Giacomo, Abel Ferrara and Emma Marrone.
Filming Italy – Los Angeles 2023, dedicated to the memory of Gina Lollobrigida, offers a program of more than 60 titles, including films, TV series, unreleased and unreleased docufilms, and short films, with Italian and international guests. There are also going to be numerous masterclasses and an institutional panel titled: “Film and Series, Cinema and TV and Media Platform: a different approach for audiovisual content production. Will the evolution of supply bring seriality to cinema?”
The collaboration with Women in Film, TV & Media Italia is confirmed again this year, while the CLASSIC section, new in this edition, is dedicated to the great restored classics, in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
Filming Italy – Los Angeles, 50% live and 50% digital mode, will be held on the streaming platform MyMovies.it.
