How Panettone is Made?

Do you know why Panettone is hung upside down after it comes out of the oven? Watch this wonderful master class video with Vincenzo Santoro from the bakery Martesana Milano on how Panettone is made (Italian with English subtitles) to find out why.

Panettone is a traditional Christmas sweet bread from Italy that was created in Milano. A widely accepted story is that this panettone was invented by a baker’s helper named Toni in the Sforza court of Milan in the 1400’s. Toni prepared a dessert using everything he had available. Hence the name panettone, “il pan di Toni” (Toni’s bread).
