The Foreign Languages Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for part-time Italian teachers to teach Italian Language courses at the beginner level during the Fall academic semester. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Instructors will teach 4-credit hour courses at the elementary level. Course delivery is in person on the campus of James Madison University. Available sections to teach will vary based on enrollment needs, and instructor pay will be based on enrollment numbers. The academic semester begins two weeks prior to the first day of classes each semester. Duties are for the academic semester and include course preparation, lecturing, leading discussion, grading, holding weekly office hours, participating in the meetings of the Italian unit, and managing courses through Canvas, the Learning Management System in use at James Madison University.
Qualifications:
-Minimum of a B.A. in Italian, Italian Studies, Linguistics with an advanced graduate degree in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language. MA preferred.
-Native or near-native fluency in Italian.
-Prior experience teaching Italian as a Foreign or Second Language in public/private schools, colleges, universities, Italian Cultural Institutes, or private language schools in the US or abroad.
-Be able to manage courses through a Learning Management System.
