Description

B1 Exam Prep 1 is an intensive 30-week, 60-hour online course designed for beginners with no prior experience in Italian. With the goal of preparing students to reach the B1 intermediate level in just 30 weeks, this course, which meets for two hours a week, moves at a fast pace and requires a strong commitment both during and outside of class. Because of its intensive structure, this course is not recommended for students who anticipate missing multiple classes or who have limited time to dedicate to homework and study between lessons. Throughout the course, students will build a solid foundation in Italian grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills—essential for passing the CILS B1 Citizenship exam, which is a mandatory requirement for those applying for Italian citizenship through marriage, residency, or descendancy.  Students should plan to spend at least 2–3 hours per week outside of class on study, practice, and assignments to keep up with the pace and ensure success in the program. 

While this course is designed to bring students up to the B1 level, we highly recommend enrolling in our B1 Exam Prep 3 course after completion. This specialized 6-week follow-up focuses exclusively on test-taking strategies, exam format, and confidence-building—think of it as the SAT prep equivalent for the CILS B1 Citizenship exam.
