Italian Women Who Made History

Description

Join our 60-minute online workshop on extraordinary Italian women who made history through their revolutionary genius and voices of courage. Italy’s history is most often told through the lens of male emperors, artists, and kings. Today, we tell a different one. A story of women who did not wait for permission, who challenged power, defied convention, and reshaped science, art, and society on their own terms. Presenter, Barbara Saba, will introduce you to Rita Levi-Montalcini, Nobel Laureate in Medicine (1986), who discovered Nerve Growth Factor and conducted her research clandestinely during the Fascist regime, Margherita Hack, visionary astrophysicist and beloved science communicator who brought the universe within everyone’s reach, Anna Magnani, Oscar-winning actress and enduring symbol of Italian neorealism, and Mina, the iconic vocalist who turned artistic independence into a radical act. These are only a few of the amazing women we will explore together. They did not simply make history. They expanded what history could hold and what women could dare to become.
