Description

Italian Conversations Through Culture, Humor, and Imagination

This lively, small-group course is designed for high-intermediate/advanced students who want to explore the richness of the Italian language through real, authentic texts—and have fun doing it.

Over the course of five weeks, students will read a variety of short materials—from newspaper articles and blog posts to short stories and dialogues—and explore how Italians write across different styles and tones. Each session focuses on a specific theme, offering a fresh look at vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and structures in context.

But reading is just the beginning! With the guidance of our dynamic teacher, students will dive into engaging conversations to reflect on the writer’s style, share ideas, and connect the material to their own experiences.

Each class includes:

  • Short readings from authentic sources (articles, blogs, stories)

  • Quick vocabulary and idiom highlights in context

  • Guided conversation and discussion

  • Style and structure analysis—without getting too “grammar heavy”

Weekly Themes:

  1. Travel in Italy – Explore travel blogs, destination reviews, and itineraries

  2. Food and Italian Cuisine – Dive into the world of food writing and culinary storytelling

  3. Journalism and Current Events – Read and unpack the tone and style of Italian news writing

  4. Italian Humor – Discover how Italians express irony, wit, and playfulness

  5. Your Ideal Life – Imagine and describe your dream life in Italian: where you’d live, what you’d do, and where you’d go if anything were possible

This course is perfect for learners with a strong foundation who want to become more confident, expressive, and fluent—while discovering the many voices of Italian writing and culture.
