Fondazione Italia and Burbank Public Library Launch Sister City Cultural Series Celebrating Italy Together! Fondazione Italia and Burbank Public Library invite the community to come together and experience the sights, flavors, and traditions of Italy through a new Sister City cultural series celebrating Burbank’s Sister City, Arezzo. Created in partnership, this inaugural program is designed to bring people of all ages together through shared cultural experiences that highlight the joy of language, food, and storytelling while strengthening connections within the community.
The summer series will feature three interactive events at Buena Vista Branch Library, each offering a unique way to explore Italian culture:
- Bilingual Italian–English Story Time
Thursday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m.
A playful introduction to language for children ages five and under, featuring stories, songs, and early learning activities led by Maestra Barbara. - “Bruschetta 3 Ways” Culinary Workshop
Thursday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m.
A hands-on evening for adults to prepare and enjoy classic recipes while discovering the traditions of Italy’s beloved aperitivo hour in a relaxed, social setting. - “From Basil to Sage: Exploring Italy’s Iconic Herbs”
Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Italian chef Francesco Allegro leads an interactive workshop exploring how simple ingredients shape regional cuisine—and how to bring those flavors into everyday cooking at home.
This partnership marks the beginning of a new series that will celebrate Burbank’s Sister Cities through accessible, engaging cultural experiences. “These Sister City relationships are an important part of Burbank, fostering international understanding and meaningful cultural connections,” said Library Services Director Eric Lashley. “Through partnerships like this, we’re able to create programs that feel both global and local at the same time.”
All programs are free and open to the public. Space is limited. Advanced registration is recommended at www.burbanklibrary.org/events
