Cine Club: The Lions of Sicily is a 5-week course designed for intermediate and advanced students who want to immerse themselves in the Italian language through the captivating hit TV series “The Lions of Sicily (I Leoni di Sicilia)”, a story set in Sicily between 1799 and 1868. Each week we meet to discuss the episodes you watched independently at home (the show is currently available on Hulu). Together we will analyze the characters, the plot, and take it a step further! We will imagine alternative scenarios, critique the screenwriter’s choices, and examine the authenticity of the costumes and situations. Not only this, but we will also take a step back in time to contextualize the story within the historical period in which it takes place!
